Eldering
As we approach middle age, ‘retirement’ is no longer an abstract concept. Most of us are struggling with questions like:
What will we do with our time?
What experiences do we want to have?
Where do we want to be?
Who do we want to be with?
Can we continue to make a difference? If so, how and where?
This interactive one-day workshop is intended for individuals who are looking
for an alternative to retirement. Eldering is a masterful way of
relating to the rest of our lives—one that allows us to freely
design a purpose that includes new possibilities for sharing the best
of who we are and what we've learned through service, empowering others
and collaborating with other generations.
We’ll examine our cultural stories about aging and retirement and the influence they have on us, and discuss the possibility of Eldering as a way of being of service that can draw on everything one has to offer. Each participant will design a powerful vision for themselves by standing in a future they create and learning how the rest of their life turns out. From this perspective, they can begin to move forward in ways that will allow them to be engaged, satisfied and fulfilled for the rest of their lives.
